Job Description
UNION WELDER
1st shift $20 Job Description We are seeking a skilled welder who can effectively operate and maintain welding equipment, ensuring proper weld penetration and appearance. This role involves working with diverse materials including steel and zinc, and requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders. Responsibilities Assist with reading and interpreting blueprints for welding projects. Operate welding machines, connect cables properly, and adjust settings to achieve quality welds. Activate gas flow and adjust mixtures and pressures to obtain desired flames for cutting. Guide electrodes or guns manually along weld lines under supervision. Secure parts in position using bolts, clamps, or tack welding before final welding. Work with flat, cylindrical, or irregular parts using appropriate positioning techniques. Essential Skills Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding. Experience with stainless steel and zinc materials. Ability to read and interpret tape measures accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Blueprint reading skills. Experience in fabrication, fitting, and assembly. Familiarity with various welding techniques such as flux core and stick welding. Work Environment The position operates on a 1st shift from 7am-2:30pm within a typical job shop environment. The workspace can be hot, dirty, and not optimally lit, involving work around galvanized steel in an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
