$22-$24 Summary We are seeking skilled Structural Welders to join a growing team in a heavy steel fabrication environment. This position is ideal for candidates with strong attention to detail, experience reading blueprints, and the ability to meet strict structural welding standards. Primary Responsibilities Perform Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW - Dual Shield) in accordance with
AWS D1.1
standards. Read and follow shop drawings/blueprints to ensure welds meet specifications. Use grinders and other power tools to prep and finish welds. Maintain consistent weld quality to meet structural and safety requirements. Inspect own welds for accuracy and defects prior to QC review. Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures. Work efficiently to meet production goals while maintaining quality standards. Weld Test Requirement All candidates must pass the
AWS D1.1
weld test on-site.
The test consists of:
Dual shield flux core welding on a 1" plate in a vertical position. The weld coupon will be bent and inspected by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). The bevel, root, and weld quality must fully meet
AWS D1.1
standards. Qualifications Minimum 1-2+ years of structural welding experience (preferred). Recent welding graduates are encouraged to apply. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. Must be proficient in Flux Core (FCAW) dual shield welding. Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50+ lbs, 10-12 feet in length. Strong knowledge of welding safety practices and PPE requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Must pass an on-site weld test (AWS D1.1 standard) prior to employment. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a heavy structural steel or fabrication shop environment. Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
