Welder Job Description This role offers the opportunity to join a skilled fabrication team in Sedro-Woolley, where you will efficiently and accurately weld steel assemblies from plans, specifications, and quality control checkpoints. You will interpret dimensional and welding drawings, perform simple fitting tasks, and process complex parts for assembly while consistently producing production-quality welds within established procedures. Responsibilities Perform welding in all positions while consistently meeting quality and production standards. Set welding machines to optimum parameters in accordance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Interpret and apply weld symbols and prepare joints in accordance with applicable codes. Use jigs and fixtures appropriately to ensure accuracy and repeatability of welds. Perform basic fitting work as instructed to support assembly and fabrication activities. Place welds of proper size, spacing, and sequence as specified in work instructions. Read and understand shop plans, blueprints, and work orders to complete assigned tasks. Operate non-specialized metalworking equipment safely and effectively. Conduct prequality control visual inspection checks to ensure welds and joints meet criteria. Maintain the work area, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and orderly condition. Follow all safety guidelines, procedures, and best practices at all times. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production needs. Essential Skills Demonstrated welding competency in all positions. Proficiency in MIG welding and general welding and fabrication techniques. Ability to set welding machines to proper parameters based on WPS requirements. Ability to read and interpret weld symbols, shop plans, blueprints, and work orders. Skillful operation of most non-specialized metalworking equipment. Understanding and application of visual inspection criteria for prequality control checks. High school diploma, general education degree, or vocational degree. 3+ years of welding experience or completion of a trade school welding program. Current certified welder credentials such as WABO or AWS certification (FCAW). Ability to maintain full range of mobility in upper and lower body, including reaching overhead and working in positions such as stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting. Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment as needed to complete job tasks, including lifting up to 70 pounds. Ability to safely navigate stairs and maintain balance for extended periods in a production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Vocational or trade school education in welding or a related field. Experience working in a production or fabrication shop environment. Comfort working with jigs, fixtures, and complex steel assemblies. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to procedures. Work is performed on structured shifts, including MondayThursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, MondayThursday from 4:15 PM to 2:45 AM, and FridaySunday from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM, supporting both weekday and weekend production schedules. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Sedro Woolley, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
