Welder Trainee Hours- 6am- 4:30pm Monday-Thursday Job Description This entry-level Welder Trainee role offers a hands-on pathway into a welding career within a manufacturing environment. You receive structured training in Flux Core welding processes, blueprint reading, fabrication techniques, and essential safety procedures while working alongside experienced welders and trainers. Responsibilities Participate actively in a structured welding training program and complete assigned learning modules. Learn and apply Flux Core welding techniques, including proper welding practices and safe operation. Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation to perform tasks accurately. Operate hand tools, grinders, measuring devices, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively. Perform basic material preparation, including cutting, cleaning, and organizing materials for welding and assembly. Assist with fit-up and finishing tasks to ensure components meet required specifications and quality standards. Maintain quality standards by inspecting work, identifying defects, and making necessary adjustments. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work area and proper use of equipment. Work closely with experienced welders, trainers, and team members to develop welding and fabrication skills. Support general assembly and mechanical tasks as needed within the manufacturing process. Demonstrate strong attendance, reliability, and a willingness to learn and accept coaching. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to read a tape measure accurately. Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work. Basic blueprint reading and measurement proficiency. Experience using hand and power tools or a strong willingness to learn. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Strong attendance, reliability, and a positive work ethic. Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and follow instructions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior welding school, shop class, or fabrication experience is a plus. Previous exposure to mechanical, assembly, or manufacturing work is beneficial. Comfort working with grinders, measuring devices, and other fabrication equipment. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing shop environment that uses Flux Core welding, which is a dirty process involving sparks, fumes, and metal debris. You work around fabrication equipment, hand and power tools, grinders, and measuring devices in an industrial setting. The position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a physically active, production-focused environment with appropriate safety procedures and protective gear. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Greencastle, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
