Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Welding Lead is responsible for producing high-quality structural steel components that meet company standards, project specifications, and safety requirements. This position requires the ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, perform precise layout work, weld with accuracy, and operate a variety of fabrication tools and equipment. The Welding Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that all manufactured products leaving the facility are built correctly, safely, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. As Welding Lead, you play a dual role of welder and mentor, training and providing ongoing support and feedback to the other welders on the team. Individuals in this role must demonstrate technical proficiency, attention to detail, ability to communicate effectively, physical capability, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Exhibit a high level of personal performance and attendance. Be a working example of excellence within the welding team. Perform various types of welding including MIG, TIG and stick welding. Interpret and use prints and sketches to perform layout and welding codes and standards. Use hand tools and operate machinery to cut, shape and weld structural steel components. Inspect welds for accuracy and quality assurance, working in the moment to mentor other welders on proper techniques. Be available to employees to answer technical welding questions. Work with the Production manager to address production concerns. Ensure safety, quality and productivity is met in area of responsibility. Performing all job duties following company safety rules and proper use of assigned personal protective equipment. Must be willing and able to work mandatory weekday and weekend overtime. Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds of material. Frequently walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing. Work requires alert individuals with good balance and physical strength. Other duties as assignedREPORTING STRUCTURE
