Job Description

Position Summary The Spot Welder is responsible for producing high-quality welded assemblies by operating resistance spot welding equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to safety and productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate resistance spot welding machines to join sheet metal components according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings. Verify part dimensions and quality using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges. Load, position, and secure parts in fixtures prior to welding. Perform visual inspections to ensure weld quality and identify defects. Complete required production documentation accurately and timely. Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality standards. Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance. Report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns to the supervisor. Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles. Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist in other production areas as needed. Qualifications/Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience Previous manufacturing or spot welding experience preferred but not required. Experience working with sheet metal fabrication is a plus. Ability to read blueprints and understand basic manufacturing documentation is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to operate spot welding equipment safely and efficiently. Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship. Basic understanding of welding symbols and fabrication drawings. Ability to use measuring instruments accurately. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Strong work ethic with dependable attendance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills. Physical Requirements Frequently stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift. Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly. Frequently bend, twist, reach, and stoop. Perform repetitive hand and arm motions throughout the shift. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise, and exposure to metal dust. Work Environment Manufacturing facility with exposure to moving machinery, welding equipment, noise, and industrial materials. Required use of safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed footwear, and other PPE. Performance Expectations Successful employees in this role will: Produce quality welds that meet customer specifications. Meet or exceed daily production goals. Maintain excellent attendance and reliability. Follow all safety and quality procedures. Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
