Job Description

Job Title:
TIG Welder Job Description This role focuses primarily on high-paced TIG welding with additional MIG welding responsibilities on mild and stainless light gauge steel. You will mainly perform fixture welding and support other fabrication operations as needed, such as running the punch and brake press when welding work slows down. The position suits a versatile welder who enjoys working in a collaborative, hands-on production environment and is comfortable contributing in multiple areas of the shop. Responsibilities Perform high-quality TIG welding on mild and stainless light gauge steel in a fast-paced production environment. Perform MIG welding as required on mild and stainless light gauge steel components. Carry out fixture welding work, ensuring accurate setup and alignment of parts according to specifications. Interpret and work from prints and drawings to complete custom welding and fabrication tasks. Set up welding equipment and fixtures properly for TIG and MIG welding operations. Apply proper fitting techniques to prepare materials and components prior to welding. Conduct welding operations on stainless steel, maintaining consistent weld quality and appearance. Pass and maintain required weld tests to demonstrate competency and adherence to quality standards. Operate additional fabrication equipment such as punch and brake press when welding workload is reduced. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop safety procedures and best practices. Collaborate with team members and assist in other areas of the shop when needed to support overall production goals. Monitor work quality and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances. Essential Skills Ability to perform TIG welding on mild and stainless light gauge steel. Ability to perform MIG welding on mild and stainless light gauge steel. Proven fixture welding experience in a production or fabrication environment. Fitting experience, including preparing and aligning components for welding. Ability to read and interpret prints and drawings for custom welding work. Experience welding stainless steel, including maintaining proper weld quality and finish. Capability to set up welding equipment and fixtures for TIG and MIG processes. Ability to pass a weld test demonstrating skill and quality standards. Flexibility to move between welding and other fabrication tasks, such as running punch and brake press. Either a 2-year welding degree or a minimum of two years of welding work experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in fabrication environments where both TIG and MIG welding are used. Comfort working with light gauge steel materials in a production setting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality welds. Willingness to assist in tasks outside primary welding duties to support team and production needs. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on shop environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a fabrication shop environment with a strong, hands-on culture where team members regularly assist each other beyond their primary duties. You will work with TIG and MIG welding equipment, fixtures, and fabrication machinery such as punch and brake presses, primarily on mild and stainless light gauge steel. The pace is fast and production-focused, with an expectation of flexibility to move between welding and other shop tasks depending on workload. Safety practices and maintaining an organized work area are important aspects of the daily routine. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
