Job Description

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. As a result of our expansion, we are looking for a Weld Expediter to join our growing team. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Weld Expediter will play a key role in coordinating, monitoring, and ensuring the timely flow of welded components through the fabrication process. This position requires strong communication, problem-solving skills, and collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure deadlines are met without compromising safety or quality.
Responsibilities:
(what you will be doing) Monitor daily weld shop schedules and track progress of welded components to ensure timely completion. Act as the primary point of contact between welders, supervisors, and production management to resolve bottlenecks and prioritize workload. Verify accuracy of work orders, drawings, and materials before components are released to welding. Coordinate with material handlers and inventory to ensure parts, fixtures, and consumables are available for welders. Expedite rework or priority jobs as required to meet customer deadlines. Maintain accurate documentation of work order status and communicate updates to leadership daily. Collaborate with fabrication, paint, and assembly departments to ensure smooth workflow throughout production.
Requirements:
(what it takes to be successful) High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or welding coursework preferred. 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or welding environment. Strong understanding of welding processes, fabrication, and metalwork. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP system experience preferred). Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while supporting team goals. Ability to walk, bend, and stand for long periods; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to drive legally between manufacturing locations (all in greater Milwaukee).
