Job Description
Position Summary The Welder/Fabricator role is a key part of the overall production operation. The primary duties include metal-core welding, fabricating, laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting parts for heavy structural steel products. Being AISC certified, it is crucial that the Company's Welders/Fabricators pay significant attention to detail and can focus on accuracy while checking fabricated pieces assuring quality. Having several years of experience with complex welding procedures and reading complex prints is highly preferred. More experienced Welder/Fabricators can start higher depending on experience. The Company issues air-exchange welding hoods to all welders. There are no road crews. Technical Skills Pass a 2F weld test Mechanically inclined Able to operate grinders for around 15 hours/week Experienced in power tools and forklifts (preferred) Able to read a tape measure Quality / Safety Skills Have acute situational awareness Able to be trained on and operate overhead cranes Equipped with personal protection equipment (PPE) Able to lift 80 pounds We at Merrill Steel have been working hard to make sure that our company is a place you want to come to work at each day. Our Plant Manager, Supervisors, and Leads meet with Human Resources on a weekly basis to talk about ways to improve our shop culture. We even have an Employee Relations Manager whose office is located out in the shop to easily assist employees.

Here is a list of just some of the things we offer: Flexible scheduling: First shift employees have the option to start at 5, 6, or 7 am, then work 10-hour shifts, Monday- Friday. Fridays are flexible. Second shift operates from 3:30 pm
- 3:00 am, Monday
- Thursday.
