Job Description

Marina Maintenance Technician Flat Hollow Marina Job Title:
Marina Maintenance Technician Position Summary:
Responsible for the upkeep, repair, and safe operation of marina facilities, docks, equipment, and grounds. Ensures a clean, functional, and welcoming environment for boaters and staff while supporting marina operations safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, maintain, and repair docks, winches, buoy lines, walkways, cleats, gangways, and hardware. Perform routine maintenance on marina buildings, restrooms, fuel docks, and electrical pedestals. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical issues.
Maintain marina grounds:
mowing, trimming, trash removal, snow/ice removal, and landscaping as needed. Service and maintain small power equipment (side x sides, 4-wheelers, mowers, generators, pumps) and report larger equipment needs to supervisor. Assist with fueling operations, rigging, launching, and securing boats when required. Monitor and maintain marina lighting, safety signage, firefighting and spill response equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and keep accurate work orders, maintenance logs, and inventory records. Assist with dock rentals, transient boat docking, and customer service during peak periods. Respond to after-hours emergencies (equipment failure, fuel/oil spills, severe weather) as needed by supervisor. Follow environmental, safety, and regulatory procedures (fuel handling, waste disposal, spill response). Coordinate with supervisor for specialized repairs and larger capital projects.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; vocational training or technical certification preferred. 2+ years of maintenance, facilities, marine, and/or construction experience (marina experience preferred). Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical skills. Experience operating boats, skid steers, and light equipment is a plus. Valid driver's license required; boat operator license, if applicable.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong problem-solving and hands-on repair skills. Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks independently. Professional communication, customer-service driven, and clean appearance. Comfortable working outdoors on the water in all weather and at heights. Physical stamina and ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and stand for long periods.
Working Conditions:
Full-time; seasonal variations may apply. Some weekend, evening, and on-call emergency work required. Outdoor work in varying weather; exposure to water, diesel/fuel, and marine hazards.
Compensation:
$15-$20 starting hourly pay range depending on previous experience, resume, and references.
