Job Description

Head of Marketing Bruno Software Inc Austin, TX Job Details Full-time 14 hours ago Qualifications Managing marketing teams AI-driven automation Senior leadership Full Job Description About Bruno Bruno is the local-first, Git-native API client trusted by more than 4 million developers worldwide. From startups to Fortune 500 companies, engineering teams use Bruno to build, test, and collaborate on APIs without the complexity, cost, or security concerns of cloud-first tools. We have something most companies would kill for: a product 4 million developers already use and love. What we don't have yet is a marketing function. You'll build it. About the Role Here's who we think you might be: a Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager at a midsize company. You're good. The campaigns you run work, and you already think like an owner. You're ready to run a function. But at your current company, that's years away, gated by headcount cycles, reorgs, and layers of approval that have nothing to do with your ability. We'd like to skip that part. At Bruno, you'll own marketing from day one. Owning it means real decisions, not just execution. You'll decide what to build in-house, what to hand to agencies, and what AI can now do better than either. You'll set the strategy, run the budget, and be judged on results. We work on evidence, not opinion. You'll set goals against hypotheses, run experiments, measure what comes back, and double down on what wins. The best idea here is the one with data behind it, whether it came from you, an agency, or a model. One thing we won't compromise on: you know developer tools. Developers famously don't respond to traditional marketing, and we need someone who learned that the hard way, in market — not someone discovering it on our budget. What You'll Do Own the marketing function end to end: strategy, budget, channels, and results.
Design the operating model:
decide which capabilities to hire in-house, which to run through agencies, and which to automate with AI, and revisit those calls as the answers change. Run marketing as a series of experiments: set goals against clear hypotheses, ship fast, measure honestly, and scale what performs. Build demand for our enterprise product while respecting the open source community that got us here. Turn 4M+ users into a growth engine: community, content, product-led funnels, and developer word of mouth. Partner with Sales, DevRel, and Product to align messaging, pipeline goals, and launches.
Report on what matters:
pipeline, revenue influence, and efficiency. What We're Looking For Marketing experience in developer tools, infrastructure, or technical B2B software. This is non-negotiable. Developer audiences are a unique market, and we need someone who's operated in it. Currently a Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager (or equivalent) with a track record of results that outgrew their role. An experimenter's mindset: you form hypotheses, set measurable goals, and let the data pick the winners. Strong judgment on build vs. buy vs. automate , and the honesty to change your mind when results say so. Fluency with modern AI tools and a point of view on where they genuinely replace headcount or agencies. Excellent writing. In devtools, the marketing that works reads like it was written by someone technical. Comfortable being the entire marketing function on day one, and the architect of a bigger one over time. Bonus Points You've marketed an open source or product-led product before. You've managed agencies or freelancers and know how to get real output from them. Enough technical background to be credible with developers: you know what an API is because you've called one. You've built a marketing function, or a significant piece of one, from scratch. Why Join Bruno?
Skip the wait:
own a function now instead of in five years. A rare starting position. 4M+ users, genuine product love, and an unbuilt marketing function. Full authority over strategy, budget, and team design, with accountability to match. Work directly with founders who will judge you on results, not process. Join a fast-growing, well-funded company with a product developers genuinely love. Competitive salary, equity, and benefits.
