Job Description

Major Gifts Officer Job Summary The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for building meaningful relationships with current and prospective major donors and growing philanthropic support for Storybook Farm. The ideal candidate is a proactive, relationship-driven fundraiser who confidently makes the ask, as well as identify, cultivate, and steward major donors. This individual will manage a portfolio of major-gift prospects, consistently moving relationships toward more meaningful philanthropic investments. About Storybook Farm At Storybook Farm, we know that childhood shapes everything that comes next. For children facing adversity, challenges early in life can make learning, building relationships, and believing in themselves much harder. Storybook Farm exists to change that. Through experiences with horses, dogs, gardens, and nature, children build confidence, strengthen literacy and STEM skills, develop meaningful relationships, and discover what they are capable of. Since 2002, Storybook Farm has grown from serving three children to 4,500 each year, all at no cost to their families. Hours:
Full-time, year-round. Occasional evening and weekend work.

Reports to:
Executive Director.
Reviews:
Performance reviews at 30, 90 days and quarterly thereafter. Monthly reporting required.
Salary Range :
$65,000 - $75,000 Responsibilities Manage portfolio of current major donors. Identify and qualify new major-gift prospects through research, referrals, connections, and existing Storybook relationships. Develop and execute strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors. Personally engage donors through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, Farm visits, and individual outreach, consistently moving relationships toward solicitation. Confidently solicit major gifts and follow through on conversations, proposals, and commitments. Maintain accurate donor records and track and report major-gift activity, pipeline movement, solicitations, and gifts secured in our CRM. Requirements and Qualifications Demonstrated success in fundraising, major gift solicitation, relationship-based sales, or business development. Exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to connect easily with a wide variety of people. Confident initiating conversations, requesting meetings, and discussing large sums of money. Excellent written and verbal skills, including speaking in public. Proactive, persistent, organized, and exceptional at follow-through. Experience with donor management or CRM software.
