Overview K2 Development is a Redding, CA-based family of companies spanning affordable housing property management and development (K2 Development, Golden Circle Management Group) and hospitality (Front Door Hospitality, Redding Public Market). We are looking for a dynamic, community-minded Communications Manager to execute marketing, public relations, and community and event strategy across the organization, including for various affiliated entities — spanning real estate development, property management, general contracting, field services, and hospitality. This is a company-wide, execution-focused role. Marketing strategy and systems, the annual budget and investment plan, advertising, brand voice and guidelines, and public relations are directed by K2's Corporate Marketing Committee; the Communications Manager brings that strategy to life day to day and builds community and tourism relationships in close cooperation with the K2 corporate executive team. Key Responsibilities 1. Marketing Execution (Directed by the Corporate Marketing Committee) Marketing Strategy & Systems. Execute the organization-wide marketing and communications strategy set by the K2 Corporate Marketing Committee — translating approved priorities into coordinated campaigns, calendars, workflows, and measurable outcomes across K2 Development and its affiliated businesses. Budget & Investment Plan. Manage day-to-day marketing and advertising spend within the annual budget and investment plan approved by the Corporate Marketing Committee, tracking results against approved benchmarks and reporting variances back to the Committee. Design & Production. Design and produce high-quality marketing collateral — print, digital, photo, and video — across K2 Development's affiliates, including Redding Public Market, consistent with the brand standards set by the Corporate Marketing Committee. Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology. Use AI, automation, and emerging technologies to increase the speed, quality, reach, and effectiveness of day-to-day marketing execution, while maintaining brand standards and quality control. Advertising. Execute advertising campaigns, including the annual budget and 90-day lookahead calendars approved by the Corporate Marketing Committee for each affiliated entity; manage sponsorship logistics and evaluate campaign performance against sales and engagement data monthly, reporting results back to the Committee. Brand Voice & Guidelines. Apply and maintain the brand voice, visual identity, and branding guidelines established by the Corporate Marketing Committee, ensuring day-to-day materials and communications stay consistent across all of K2 Development's affiliated companies. 2. Public Relations & Media (Directed by the Corporate Marketing Committee) Media Relations. Maintain day-to-day relationships with local, regional, and statewide media contacts as part of the earned-media strategy set by the Corporate Marketing Committee; keep the media database current and respond to routine press inquiries. Story Development & Pitching. Execute story pitches, press releases, media advisories, and media kits developed in partnership with the Corporate Marketing Committee, and coordinate the photography, video, and talking points that support them. Media Opportunities & Events. Coordinate feature stories, interviews, and media or influencer events approved by the Corporate Marketing Committee, and track resulting coverage, reach, and engagement. 3. Community & Event Strategy (In Cooperation with the K2 Corporate Executive Team) Tourism & Community Liaison. Build and maintain relationships with local tourism organizations (e.g., Visit Redding) and community stakeholders in cooperation with the K2 Development executive team, keeping the company and its brands top-of-mind for visitors and locals alike. Event Coordination. Lead planning and execution of a company-wide calendar of events tied to major community and holiday dates — at minimum Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Lunar New Year, Easter, Kool April Nights, Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast & Parade, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Oktoberfest, Christmas Tree Lighting & Parade, and New Year's Eve — plus support for independently run community events (Hops and Shops, the Redding Beer and Wine Festival, the Tipsy Tomato, the REU Fair, and similar) wherever they intersect with K2 Development's businesses. Master Calendar Management. Build and maintain a comprehensive external, publicly hosted calendar of Redding entertainment and public events, plus an internal calendar available to staff across all K2-affiliated companies. Coordinate with existing resources (Visit Redding, the Redding Chamber, City of Redding Parks & Rec) and automate updates wherever possible to minimize manual entry. Downtown & Regional Events. Track and coordinate participation in downtown Redding and regional anchor events to keep K2 Development's businesses connected to what's happening around them. Additional Projects The Communications Manager will execute additional special projects assigned by the executive team or the Corporate Marketing Committee — such as new community, customer experience, or brand initiatives — that fall within the scope of marketing, communications, and community relations for K2 Development. Qualifications and What We Are Looking For K2 recognizes that the breadth of this position is unusual, and we do not expect candidates to be experts in every responsibility or software platform listed above. We are looking for a resourceful, detail-oriented person who can execute strategy well, build systems, learn quickly, and personally produce excellent work when needed. Execution-Focused & Detail-Oriented. Able to take strategy and direction from the Corporate Marketing Committee and translate it into effective day-to-day execution, with strong instincts for marketing, communications, storytelling, branding, and what captures people's attention. Creative & Resourceful. A self-starter who identifies opportunities, figures out unfamiliar problems, learns new tools quickly, and turns ideas into finished work without requiring extensive direction. Technically Capable. Comfortable with contemporary digital marketing, social media, AI and automation tools, analytics, and creative-production platforms. Hands-on experience producing professional-quality written, graphic, photographic, or video content is strongly preferred. Relationship Builder. Able to develop genuine relationships with media, businesses, community organizations, partners, and the public — with strategy and priorities set by the Corporate Marketing Committee, and with the guidance and oversight of the executive team. Experience Over Pedigree. Relevant experience in marketing, communications, public relations, media, creative production, business, or a related field is preferred, but there is no required career path or degree. Demonstrated ability, judgment, and results matter more to us than credentials. If you believe you could be great in this role but do not check every box, we encourage you to apply.
