Job Description

Social Media Manager Whittier College Whittier College is an independent, four-year Liberal Arts College distinguished by its small size (1600 undergraduates) and a nationally recognized liberal arts program. Whittier College has a history of strong and innovative interdisciplinary programs and a diverse student body. The College is ideally situated in the scenic hills eighteen miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The Enrollment Department at Whittier College is seeking a creative Social Media Manager to strategize and elevate our online presence and engage with current and prospective students, alumni, and the broader community. This role will work hand in hand with a designated team of students to devise/ capture and post content representative of the student experience on and off campus. The ideal candidate is passionate about higher education, storytelling, and digital marketing trends.

Salary Range:
$24.00-$25.00 per hour; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions of the job: Work with College Admissions to develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to enhance brand awareness and audience engagement. Manage high-quality content across multiple social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter). Collaborate with departments, faculty, student organizations, and athletics to highlight academic achievements, student life, and campus events. Help to develop and deliver release strategies around calendared events. Utilize analytic tools to measure key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust strategies for growth and effectiveness and report on post reach and progress. Manage social media advertising campaigns to support enrollment, fundraising, and institutional goals. Engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and foster an interactive and positive online community. Liaise between the Admissions department and student workers to help foster student perspectives. Maintain equipment security and data transfer/labeling Ensure content aligns with brand guidelines and adheres to best practices in digital accessibility and compliance. Position Specifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or Business. 2+ years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen eye for visuals. Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite) and analytics platforms. Experience with video content creation, photography, and graphic design is a plus. Product Familiarity (A benefit but not mandatory) Sony, Canon, DJI, FinalCut, Logic, Adobe Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
