Operatives Position Summary:
The Programming & Communications Manager is responsible for planning, producing, and promoting Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association (TMVOA) community programming, events, and communications. This role leads vibrancy initiatives, coordinates logistics and vendors for community events, and manages member and public communications across multiple channels, including email, media relations, and digital platforms. The position requires an organized, creative, and community-oriented professional who can manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong relationships with members, merchants, and partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(Other duties may be assigned) Event Programming & Production
  • Develop and maintain an annual TMVOA programming and events calendar.
  • Plan, produce, and enhance both new and existing TMVOA events and community vibrancy initiatives. This includes the Sunset Concert Series, Red, White & Blues, Holiday Prelude, Tips Up Après Ski, and New Year's Eve celebrations
  • Manage end-to-end event logistics and on-site operations, from permitting and equipment rentals to setup and post-event breakdown.
  • Source, hire, and manage all event vendors and contracts, ensuring documentation and insurance compliance.
  • Develop and monitor event budgets and maintain post-event reports to evaluate success and organizational alignment.
  • Collaborate with TMVOA staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with Town of Mountain Village staff to ensure maximum effectiveness, efficiencies, permitting, coordination, and support
  • Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned
  • Evening and weekend hours may be required during event production periods Communication and Public Relations
  • Serve as a primary liaison for the merchant community, local organizations, and partners to coordinate event alignment, community initiatives, and sponsorship fulfillment.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive TMVOA communications strategy across email, website, and social media, including the drafting and distribution of member newsletters, event announcements, and public information updates.
  • Write press releases and coordinate media placements to support TMVOA events, initiatives, and community-wide public information efforts.
  • Lead community engagement initiatives, including gathering feedback via surveys to support TMVOA updates and strategic planning.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Deep knowledge of event logistics, including permitting, A/V requirements, vendor contract standards Familiarity with the "7 elements of event management" (concept, budget, scheduling, venue, marketing, execution, and evaluation) Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), website Content Management Systems (CMS), and social media management tools. Mastery of project management software to track timelines and survey tools for gathering community feedback. The ability to calmly and diplomatically resolve conflicts professionally Ability to make quick decisions when unforeseen issues arise such as weather changes Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with MS Office Suite and Mail Chimp Education and/or
Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, hospitality, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in event planning, communications, marketing, or community programming.
Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
