at State of Delaware in Dover, Delaware, United States Job Description The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is seeking a communications and public affairs professional to serve as its first Director of Transparency and Engagement, who will be responsible for conceptualizing, initiating, and leading the OIG's important communications and external engagement efforts. The Director will oversee the development and implementation of messaging and outreach related to the OIG's work promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability across Delaware government. JOB REQUIREMENTS
for Director of Transparency and Engagement Please attach a resume with your online application or use the resume tab in DEL to provide a detailed description of how your education, training and/or experience meets each job requirement including employer, experience/responsibilities and dates (month/year) of employment/training. Bachelor's degree in communications, public affairs, public relations, public administration, journalism, political science, or a related relevant field. At least two (2) years of relevant experience in communications, public affairs, government relations, or external affairs and community outreach efforts. Experience in or knowledge of the development and implementation of strategic communications plans, including media relations, digital communications, and public outreach approaches and strategy. Demonstrated writing, editing, and public speaking skills, with the ability to communicate complex or sensitive matters clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. Experience working with social media platforms, website management, and digital engagement analytics. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, exercise sound judgment, and represent an organization professionally in public. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and adept multitasker, who has strong judgment, sound discretion, a collegial attitude, and the ability to set and meet deadlines. Experience working in government, law, public policy, oversight, or a related public sector environment is preferred, but not required. Experience working in or with, or substantial knowledge of Delaware state government is preferred, but not required.
