The STARability Foundation Supports people with disabilities by providing life-transforming opportunities that emphasize Teamwork and connection to the community to build Awareness and Respect for individual abilities. STARability serves individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities in Southwest Florida, where we provide lifetime support and opportunities. STARability opens up a calendar of engaging activities with innovative and creative programs focusing on continuing education, teamwork, and community involvement.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer Engagement Manager is a strategic leader within the Engagement team, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing STARability Foundation's volunteer engagement and community outreach strategy. This role provides leadership and direction for all volunteer initiatives across fundraising events, organizational activities, and programmatic support, ensuring a high-impact, mission-driven experience that strengthens volunteer retention, operational effectiveness, and community involvement. Serving as a visible ambassador for STARability, the Volunteer Engagement Manager will cultivate and manage relationships with volunteers, community partners, businesses, and civic organizations to expand awareness, engagement, and support for the Foundation. This individual will proactively identify and develop new community engagement opportunities, lead volunteer recruitment and stewardship efforts, and create systems and processes that support the organization's continued growth. The Volunteer Engagement Manager plays a critical leadership role in elevating STARability's presence in the community while building a sustainable volunteer infrastructure that advances the organization's mission and long-term strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Volunteer Program Management Develop and implement a structured volunteer program that supports STARability's strategic growth and programmatic needs. Lead the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of volunteers across all areas of the organization, including events, administrative support, and program participation. Develop and lead ongoing volunteer training initiatives to increase awareness, understanding, and effective engagement with our participant demographic, ensuring volunteers are well-equipped to provide meaningful and inclusive support. Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteers, ensuring a positive, engaging, and mission driven experience. Maintain accurate volunteer records, hours tracking, and engagement data within the CRM (Salesforce). Create recognition and stewardship strategies to retain and grow a strong volunteer base. Event & Fundraising Volunteer Management Partner closely with the Events and Philanthropy teams to identify and fulfill volunteer needs for fundraising events, including the STAR Gala, Run, Walk & Roll, and other initiatives. Recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for all fundraising activities and special events. Be present at events to oversee and lead volunteers, ensure seamless execution, and represent STARability professionally. Support event committees and volunteer leadership groups as needed Community Outreach & Engagement. Represent STARability at community events, volunteer fairs, networking events, and outreach opportunities to recruit volunteers and increase organizational visibility. Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, schools, civic groups, and community organizations to expand volunteer pipelines. Identify new opportunities for community partnerships that support volunteer engagement and mission awareness. Program Volunteer Management Collaborate with Program staff to identify volunteer needs within STARability's programs, ensuring appropriate placement and alignment with participant experiences Manage and schedule volunteers to support program activities while maintaining participant safety, dignity, inclusion, and meaningful engagement for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Ensure volunteers are properly trained and aligned with STARability's mission, values, and best practices. Strategic Engagement & Collaboration Work cross-functionally with Philanthropy, Programs, Marketing, Operations and other teams to align volunteer efforts with organizational goals. Contribute to community engagement strategies that increase awareness, participation, and support for STARability. Support integrated campaigns and initiatives that connect volunteerism with donor engagement and fundraising efforts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Periodically stand or sit for long periods of time. May occasionally lift at least 50 pounds unassisted.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree preferred in nonprofit management, communications, human services, education, public relations, or a related field. Experience working with autism and other developmental disabilities or within a nonprofit/human services organization is strongly preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing volunteer programs, community engagement, nonprofit programs, or related experience. Strong relationship-building and networking skills with the ability to engage volunteers, community partners, businesses, schools, and civic organizations. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Experience using CRM systems (such as Salesforce, or similar databases) to track volunteer information, engagement, and reporting is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and writing skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders effectively. Passion for STARability's mission and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support volunteer activities, community events, and fundraising initiatives. Employment offer is contingent on successful background checks, abuse registry, and reference checks.
Pay:
From $60,000.00 per year
