Communication Officers are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and compassion in our work. The Louisiana State Police is seeking to promote a current, permanent employee to serve as a Communications Officer Manager within the Communications Unit. This leadership role is responsible for guiding, motivating, and supervising personnel in support of the agency's mission. The Communications Officer Manager oversees regional staffing and shift scheduling, coordinates and supports the training and development of Communications Officers and Communications Officer Supervisors, and ensures effective communication, planning, and coordination with law enforcement personnel to maintain efficient operations. Minimum Qualifications Three years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio. One year must have been at the supervisory level or above: Four years of experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services; OR One year of training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute plus three years of experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services; OR Thirty semester hours of college training plus three years of experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
All persons appointed to this job will be required by the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Louisiana Police Terminal Operator Certification Program Guidelines to meet the terminal operator certification/re-certification requirements. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. As a Communications Officer Manager, you will be instrumental in assigning, training, supervising, and evaluating Communications Officers and their work. In this role, you will: Maintain all standards set by Louisiana State Police and Department of Public Safety Coordinate and control activities of communications personnel at the assigned region Plan and schedule shift work for communications personnel Facilitate the coordination and collaboration with law enforcement personnel, jurisdictional law enforcement agencies, and other Federal or State offices on a 24/7 basis Plan and coordinate communications equipment installations Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements Respond to and coordinates the Communications Section response to emergency situations Maintain and assure accuracy of records for communications functions for region Develop, promotes, and maintains cooperative relationships with personnel in the Communications Section, and other law enforcement agenciesPosition-Specific Details:
