This role plays a key part in sharing the MPCS story through thoughtful messaging, media engagement, and representing MPCS at events and health fairs. The Public Relations Coordinator contributes to MPCS' overall marketing strategy and works closely with the Marketing and Branding Coordinator, while reporting directly to the Advancement Manager. Duties Writing compelling, original press releases and pitching stories to local and regional media outlets, Securing media partnerships and in-kind support for events, Collaborating with staff when necessary to create messaging that describes the work of MPCS for use across platforms such as social media, website pages, newsletters, radio, and television commercials, Developing strategies to increase MPCS' visibility throughout Acadiana and beyond, Serving as a public-facing representative of MPCS by educating the public about our programs, services, and events, Fostering positive relationships between MPCS and members of the media and media institutions, Assisting the Marketing and Graphic Design Coordinator in developing and executing MPCS' annual and ongoing marketing strategy, and Executing other duties assigned by the Advancement Manager. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field or equivalent professional experience. Minimum 1-3 years of experience in public relations, communications, or marketing. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally for meetings, events, and media opportunities. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when necessary. Must be able to provide at least three (3) writing samples.
