We will be in touch with you promptly concerning your submission. communications director Job Description Part-time / non-exempt / 25 hours per week Westgate Chapel values communicating in a way that successfully mobilizes our church towards our mission and vision. The purpose of this position is to create and oversee all written communication from Westgate to the congregation, community and media outlets. All language at Westgate should be contemporary, honest, God-honoring, relational and conversational. Responsibilities
  • Shape and lead implementation of WGC's Communication Values across WGC; hold WGC staff / ministries accountable to these values and the WGC brand
  • Facilitate strategic & tactical communications with/for WGC staff
  • Lead promotions process for key media platforms
  • Create and/or edit all publicly visible copy including the weekly bulletin, ministry handouts, promotional materials, WGC-wide emails, web pages and social media.
  • Oversee and create all graphic development (including posters and signage) to ensure editorial accuracy and aesthetic excellence; supervise graphic designer.
Ongoing tasks include:
  • Create the descriptions for all church events that will go in the bulletin (app, eventually), email, webpage and social media
  • Oversee, update and defend the Communication Guide and Style Guide
  • Oversee and update all social media for the church
  • Update and oversee the content on the webpage
  • Create a local media presence (news) and send out press releases when applicable.
  • Proof and authorize all written material in mail and electronic form.
  • Oversee all online advertising (google ad words, Facebook boosts, etc.
)
Qualifications:
  • Be a born-again believer through faith in Jesus Christ by way of personal profession.
  • Demonstrates a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and models a Biblical pattern of life and leadership while demonstrating a love for God and His people.
  • Shows evidence of control by the Holy Spirit in all aspects of personal life and ministry.
  • Bachelors' degree in related area.
  • Minimum of 5 years of marketing or communications experience.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated ability to say no yet possess savvy skills to move the team to yes.
Other expectations/characteristics:
  • Work as part of a team (including the senior staff on an ad hoc basis) and build up all ministries at Westgate
  • Be quick-paced, action-oriented.
  • Have a servant attitude, and a welcoming/inviting presence.
  • Be skilled at administration and organization.
