Required Position Introduction:
Serve as the primary communications contact for OU's men's basketball program and other sport as assigned. Serve in a supervisory role with part-time employees and student assistants. Create unique written content, features and releases, design media guides, compile statistics, oversee/execute website and social media content, arrange media interviews, conduct interviews, travel to away events, etc. Assist in all aspects of office activity and in coverage of other sports and events as required. Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree 2 years of experience in sports information, media relations, athletic communications, or related field
Department Preferences:
Master's degree in journalism, communications or related field Experience as a lead basketball communications contact
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to coordinate media events, interviews, and press conferences effectively Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Competency in using digital tools for website management, social media, and content updates Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Capacity to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including media, athletic staff, students, and vendors. Strong understanding of sports media relations and public relations principles Familiarity with statistical tracking and sports statistics management.
