Position Summary

The Director of Communications is a strategic, creative, and highly collaborative leader responsible for advancing the mission of Saint James Episcopal Church and The Urban Well through compelling storytelling, thoughtful communications, and coordinated messaging. The Director helps parishioners, newcomers, neighbors, and community partners engage more deeply with the mission, ministries, and community life of the parish.

This position develops and implements an integrated communications strategy across digital, print, video and in-person platforms. Working closely with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers, the Director ensures that communications are timely, accurate, accessible and aligned with the identity and priorities of Saint James Episcopal Church and The Urban Well. This role is in person in Lancaster, PA. We anticipate a start date of December 1.

The parish of Saint James is located in the center of historic Lancaster City. It was established in 1744 and the current church dates from 1820 and 1860. We see ourselves as a school of prayer and service in the Lord. Saint James hosts the Urban Well as an ecumenical center for contemplative spirituality and practice serving our diocese, region and country.
