Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunicator to join our team. In this critical role, you will serve as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls, ensuring that all communications are handled efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong dispatching skills, excellent phone etiquette, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Duties Receive and respond to incoming calls, utilizing effective phone systems to gather necessary information. Dispatch appropriate emergency services personnel based on the nature of the call. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to determine the location of incidents and provide accurate directions. Conduct phone triage to assess the urgency of situations and prioritize responses accordingly. Maintain detailed records of all communications and actions taken during each call. Apply medical terminology and first aid knowledge when necessary to assist callers in distress. Operate GPS technology to track service units and ensure timely responses. Collaborate with law enforcement, fire departments, and medical services to coordinate effective responses. Requirements Proven experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred. Strong phone etiquette with excellent verbal communication skills. Familiarity with phone systems and ability to operate various communication technologies. Knowledge of medical terminology and first aid is advantageous. Experience with GIS applications is a plus. Ability to perform phone triage effectively under pressure. Typing proficiency for accurate record keeping is essential. Relevant certifications in emergency communication or related fields are desirable.
