MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
HIGH
SCHOOL DIPLOMA.
Excellent communication skills, active listener. Ability to understand orders and convey information clearly and effectively. Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and effective manner. Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks on a constant basis. Must be computer literate (ability to use personal computers and software including word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer systems); ability to type 40 wpm; must be able to produce and process. reports, ability to work with sensitive police material and maintain confidentiality; ability to work courteously and tactfully with others. Successful background checks required.
GENERAL DEFINITION
This is communication and light clerical work of average difficulty at the fullest performance level. Work involves answering telephone requests, sending, and receiving messages for the Communication Center of the Police Department. (Heavy telephone and radio contact). PCO duties may also include clerical and intensive typing. Work is routine and performed independently in accordance with written or verbal instructions and established departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. .
