About Safe Harbor For 30 years, Safe Harbor of Chester County has been a vital resource for individuals experiencing homelessness, providing not only shelter but a pathway toward stability, self-sufficiency, and independence. As the largest homeless shelter in Chester County and the only emergency shelter serving single adult women, Safe Harbor provides emergency shelter for up to 40 residents—20 men and 20 women—along with intensive housing case management, therapeutic programming, meals, essential needs, and other supportive services within a whole-person, trauma-informed model of care. Approximately 150 individuals each year turn to Safe Harbor for support on their journey toward stability, dignity, and long-term housing. About the Position Safe Harbor is looking for an energetic, creative, and highly organized Community Engagement Manager to help strengthen our presence throughout Chester County. This hands-on role is responsible for executing Safe Harbor events, managing marketing and social media, coordinating all volunteers and community donation drives, and building relationships with businesses, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, and other community partners. The Senior Director of Finance & Growth establishes event plans, fundraising priorities, campaigns, and overall strategy. The Community Engagement Manager takes those plans and makes them happen—managing the details, deadlines, communications, logistics, and follow-through needed for successful execution. What You'll Do Execute fundraising, donor, volunteer, and community events from planning handoff through day-of execution and follow-up. Coordinate event logistics, vendors, registration, volunteers, supplies, setup, breakdown, and guest communications. Coordinate volunteer opportunities, communications, scheduling, and recognition. Recruit, onboard, schedule, and supervise individual and group volunteers. Maintain accurate volunteer records, track service hours, manage volunteer data using volunteer hub software. Manage Safe Harbor's day-to-day social media presence and content calendar. Create social media content, graphics, flyers, invitations, emails, newsletters, and promotional materials. Capture photos, videos, and stories that showcase Safe Harbor's mission and community impact. Execute marketing and communications initiatives for events, campaigns, programs, volunteer opportunities, and donation needs. Represent Safe Harbor at community events, networking opportunities, meetings, and presentations. Build and maintain relationships with businesses, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, volunteers, and community partners. Oversee the intake, organization, and distribution of in-kind donations. Manage third-party donation drives and seasonal collection campaigns. Maintain organized event, marketing, volunteer, social media, and community engagement calendars and records. Track participation, engagement, and results. Requirements Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, business, hospitality, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered. 3+ years of relevant experience in community engagement, events, marketing, communications, social media, nonprofit development, hospitality, or a related area preferred. Demonstrated experience coordinating and executing events or projects. Strong written, verbal, organizational, project-management, and interpersonal skills. Experience creating and managing social media content. Experience with Canva or similar design tools preferred. Comfortable using Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, social media platforms, and online event or registration tools. Comfortable networking, speaking with groups, and representing Safe Harbor publicly. Ability to work primarily in the office and attend evening and weekend events as required. Reliable transportation for community events and meetings throughout Chester County.
