Job Description

Lafayette College, an NCAA Division I institution (FCS football) with 23 sports and a charter member of the Patriot League (American, Army, Boston U., Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Loyola, Navy), seeks ambitious candidates for a position in its Athletic Communications Department. The successful candidate, a key member of the department, will assist the director of athletic communications with all aspects of a robust and progressive athletic communications strategy. To successfully accomplish the goals of this position, the assistant director of athletic communications will:
  • Serve as the primary contact for women's basketball and several other sports to be determined by the strengths of the selected candidate relative to staff.
  • Write press releases, game preview and recap stories, and feature articles.
  • Produce website, print, and social media content.
  • Travel with teams.
  • May contribute in roles on project teams and working groups within the Communications Division and Athletic Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in athletic communications or related fields. Advanced computer skills (photo editing, video editing, graphic design, in-game statistical software, etc.) with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required. Ability to handle several tasks at once while meeting deadlines is a must. Emphasis on strong writing and communications skills with a background in public relations or related fields preferred.
