Updated 08/27/2026 Job Description Job Summary Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Base Communications Officer (BCO) Supervisor to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.
PURPOSE / SCOPE
The BCO Supervisor shares responsibility for overall supervision and performance of Base Communications Office operations, including, but not limited to Base Telecommunications Distribution System, including switch operations, switchboard operations, inside plant telephone switch maintenance, inside plant station equipment, customer premise cabling, outside plant fiber optic / copper cables, and other equipment in support of the telephone switching system, as well as all other systems supported by Base Communications infrastructures. BCO Site Manager will perform duties to ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum
ISO 9001
Quality Management System (QMS). The BCO Supervisor may be designated as redel when BCO Site Manager is offsite and perform other duties as assigned. The BCO Supervisor will be available within 30 minutes to meet with Government personnel and / or Program leadership as required 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline preferred; two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college At least five (5) years of experience in Base Communications Office operations on a government contract or at a military installation. Will be BICSI Registered Technician Level certified or higher Three years' experience in a supervisory role in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce Must be experienced in all aspects of operating and maintaining the Base Telecommunications Distribution System, including switch operations, switchboard operations, inside plant telephone switch maintenance, inside plant station equipment, customer premise cabling, outside plant fiber optic / copper cables, and other equipment in support of the telephone switching system, as well as all other systems supported by Base Communications infrastructure. Supervisors assigned to the installation of this system or any of its components shall have proof of industry or industry approved certification from each equipment manufacturer indicating that they are qualified to install and test the provided products. Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and drivers license throughout employment in this role Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring Ability to successfully pass the medical contract requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions May also work in a typical office environment This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
