Difference:

As the Communication & Community Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for carrying Heartland's mission out into the community. Through this important role, and intentional messaging, you will relay how Heartland is creating a more compassionate world by the work we do in caring for rescued farm animals and working with children in our therapy and humane education programs. Strategy Development:

Creating an annual communication flow plan that lays out how Heartland will reach its supporters, donors, as well as current and future community partners by reflecting and building on previous successes and evaluating and incorporating new trends.

Content Creation:

Producing engaging and mission-focused content for Heartland's website, social media, monthly Sanctuary Snapshot newsletter, and press releases.

Media Relations:

Cultivating relationships with media outlets, handling press inquiries, and managing any external media and community event opportunities .

Brand Consistency:

Ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging across all channels.

Internal Communication:

Creating materials to inform employees and align them with organizational goals .

Digital & Social Media Management:

Managing Heartland's social media platforms, website, and online engagement while also keeping up to date with new social engagement tools that are appropriate for Heartland's mission. Community Engagement

Relationship Management :

Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, community leaders, and local organizations.

Strategy Development :

Creating and implementing community engagement plans aligned with Heartland's goals and mission.

Event Coordination :

Alongside Director of Development & Community Engagement, playing a leading role in planning and executing of external events that Heartland is part of as well as the annual gala, on-site donor and staff events and public tours.

Outreach & Advocacy :

Representing Heartland at community events to increase awareness and gather feedback that helps identify and engage with potential supporters and volunteers.

Expand Awareness:

Determining ways to spread awareness of Heartland's programs and mission with the goal of attracting future supporters, donors and community partners.

Data Analysis :

Determining ways to track engagement metrics, run surveys, and report on the effectiveness of Heartland's outreach to determine what events are the most meaningful for Heartland and align with organizational goals.

Organization of Volunteers and Work Group Events:

Collaborating with the Admin Coordinator, as well as Animal Care and Program staff, in organizing volunteer and work group events that fit with Heartland's mission and needs.

Who We Are Looking For:

The Communication & Community Engagement Manager must have:

• An unwavering commitment to the mission, values, and strategic priorities, ensuring that all actions and decisions align with the organization's overarching goals.
• 3-5 years of proven experience working in non-profit or corporate communications and community engagement.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; expertise in digital/social media trends; strong project management skills as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, virtual meeting and social media platforms.
• Familiarity with WordPress, Canva, Constant Contact, Wix, automation with social media campaigns and other communication focused programs is a plus.

Compensation:

$50,000-$55,000 depending on experience
