Ag Management Solutions is seeking a talented and motivated Communications Manager to develop and execute strategic communications for our agricultural clients. This role is ideal for a skilled storyteller and project manager who understands modern agriculture and can translate complex industry topics into clear, engaging content. Working collaboratively with internal teams and client leaders, the Communications Manager will create content across digital and print platforms, support media relations and client publications, and help strengthen client brands and stakeholder engagement.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, the Communications Manager develops and executes strategic communications for assigned AMS clients. Working closely with AMS staff and client leadership, this position ensures messaging is accurate, consistent and aligned with each client's goals and brand. The Communications Manager oversees content development across print and digital platforms, manages communications projects, supports media relations, and coordinates the planning and production of client publications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and distribute internal and external communications materials, including articles, feature stories, newsletters, press releases, talking points, advertisements, website content and social media content. Plan and coordinate the development, production and distribution of client print and digital publications, including magazines and newsletters. Serve as the communications project manager for assigned clients, establishing timelines, coordinating contributors and vendors, monitoring progress, and ensuring projects are completed accurately and on schedule. Collaborate with AMS staff and client leaders to develop communications strategies and maintain consistent messaging across platforms.
- Identify and implement communications opportunities that strengthen client visibility, brand awareness and stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor media coverage, coordinate media outreach and respond to media inquiries.
- Track and analyze communications metrics to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements to content and outreach strategies.
- Monitor regional, national and global issues affecting agriculture and translate complex topics into clear, relevant information for farmers and other audiences.
- Manage multiple client projects, priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness and attention to detail.
- Coordinate the work of outside contractors, vendors and other project partners as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge of modern agriculture and the issues affecting farmers and the agricultural industry strongly preferred. Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and platforms. Demonstrated ability to develop engaging content and communicate complex information clearly and accurately. Strong project-management skills, including the ability to organize priorities, coordinate contributors and vendors, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, agricultural stakeholders, media representatives and other diverse audiences. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and take initiative while collaborating effectively in a team environment. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and quality. Familiarity with media relations, digital communications and tools used to measure communications performance. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn additional communications and project-management platforms. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism when handling sensitive client or organizational information.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
- Ability to travel occasionally for client meetings, events and other business needs.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the requirements of AMS's commercial vehicle insurance policy.
Working Conditions This role is primarily in-office work, with occasional remote work and travel, including overnight trips. Travel may involve outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
