Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Communications Officer or Manager is responsible for CVHN's external communications and branding, including developing and implementing CVHN's Communications strategy. The Communications Officer is responsible for strengthening and expanding CVHN's communications with members, stakeholders, policy makers, and funders through the planning, development and dissemination of communications in all forms of media. •

RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Build and maintain a strong professional network of media outlets and member communications staff to increase the visibility of the organization and its members 2. Lead implementation of a communications program that leverages a wide range of print and digital media products to support CVHN's organizational goals a. Respond to rapid-turn needs for messaging, media outreach, or stakeholder support b. Lead large communications projects such as civic engagement and public awareness campaigns, annual reports 3. Develop messaging, content, and campaigns for various audiences, including policymakers, funders, and stakeholders 4. Collaborate with external partners (including California Primary Care Association, National Association of Community Health Centers, etc.) to leverage communications and media strategies to increase the visibility of health centers and advance the organization's goals 5. Responsible for the oversight of the CVHN website and all social media platforms. 6. Act as brand manager to monitor internal and external adherence to organization style guides across all printed and online collateral, including internal channels; this includes 1) development of and training on the use of template materials by all staff; and 2) ensuring templates are accessible via organization's environment (SharePoint/Teams) 7. Serve as the point person to respond to information requests for publicity materials, images and content, and media interviews 8. For external projects and events, provide PR, communications subject matter expertise and produce all collateral (e.g., save the date, invitation, branding graphics, social media/media, and program) 9. Provide support and technical assistance to members with media, communications, and external affairs (i.e. media talking points, templates, tool kits) 10. Manage communications budget and ensure communications projects adhere to budgets and deadlines 11. Other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Excellent writing, editing, and messaging skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling content for diverse audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills including the ability and credibility to engage and interact with members, partners, and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office applications and thorough competency in website and online design applications and marketing automation platforms
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to design, implement, manage, and evaluate programs
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to plan independently, organize work, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Creative thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Commitment to community health and services for marginalized communities
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field; graduate degree preferred or equivalent work experience in related field
Prior Experience:
  • 3-5 years' experience in communications preferred
  • Experience with producing and disseminating print and digital media products
  • Experience with communications campaigns that engage members and the communities they serve preferred
  • Experience working with media outlets preferred
  • Experience with graphic design preferred
  • Experience with nonprofits and healthcare entities preferred
  • Familiarity with and commitment to working with diverse communities
Work Location:
Fresno or Sacramento Remote hours available Position Type Fulltime position
Travel:
Travel for stakeholder meetings, conferences, health center meetings (may require overnight travel). Physical Demands Ability to transport materials, routinely move equipment or supplies weighing up to 30 lbs. Must have a Valid Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.
