Job Description

We're Hiring:
Community Outreach Specialist Lutherville, Maryland | Full-Time | Hybrid (some evenings & weekends required)
Salary:
$66,000 annually, with full benefits package. At HopeWell Cancer Support , our mission is simple but powerful: to provide free emotional, social, and educational support to individuals and families affected by cancer. For more than 33 years, HopeWell has been a safe, welcoming place where people find connection, comfort, and strength — no one faces cancer alone. We're looking for a Community Outreach Specialist to help us share that message even further. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate, relationship-driven leader who loves connecting with people, building partnerships, and inspiring community involvement.
What You'll Do:
As our Community Outreach Specialist, you'll be the connector between HopeWell and the community we serve.
You'll:
Build and nurture partnerships with community organizations, hospitals, businesses, and faith-based groups. Represent HopeWell at events, speaking engagements, and outreach activities. Develop creative strategies to raise awareness of our programs and expand our reach. Support the development and implementation of social media and website strategies to increase HopeWell's visibility, strengthen community engagement, and promote awareness of programs and services. Plan and host community events, workshops, and presentations. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and the Outreach and Engagement Committee to bring HopeWell's mission to life. Track outreach activities and celebrate the impact we make together. Every day, you'll be helping more people discover the healing power of community support — one relationship at a time.
What You Bring:
A heart for service and a passion for community connection. Bachelor's degree (communications, public relations, social work, or related field preferred). 3-5 years of experience in outreach, engagement, or nonprofit leadership. Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to connect with diverse communities and build trust. Comfort using social media, digital tools, and community platforms to share stories and build awareness. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for events. Why Join HopeWell? You'll be part of a caring, mission-driven team that believes in the power of hope, healing, and human connection. You'll help strengthen a community where no one has to walk through cancer alone — and you'll see the impact of your work every single day. If this sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
