Community & Social Media Manager About People & Pets Pharmacy People & Pets Pharmacy is a boutique compounding pharmacy in Brighton, Michigan, built around a different idea of what a pharmacy should feel like. We believe going to the pharmacy can be a genuinely great experience. Our focus is on exceptional service, convenience, personal attention, custom compounding, and a carefully selected collection of premium health, wellness, and lifestyle products from brands such as Thorne and Rowe Casa. Everything about the business, from the products on our shelves to the way customers are treated, is intended to feel thoughtful, modern, personal, and high-end. We have built something we believe is different from the traditional pharmacy experience. Now we want more people to know about it. About the Role We are looking for a Community & Social Media Manager to take ownership of how People & Pets Pharmacy presents itself to the world. This is a full-time, hands-on role combining social media, content creation, community outreach, influencer relationships, brand development, and customer experience. We are much less concerned with your degree, previous job titles, or whether you have spent years working in a marketing department. We care about your personality, creativity, judgment, common sense, initiative, and ability to connect with people. We want someone who will genuinely take ownership of this role and treat the brand as if it were their own. That means not waiting for someone to hand you a list of things to do. It means noticing opportunities, bringing ideas forward, building relationships, creating content, trying things, measuring what works, and constantly thinking about how to make People & Pets more recognizable and more successful. Social Media & Content Social media will be one of the most important parts of this position. We aren't looking for someone to simply keep our accounts active. We want someone who can help turn People & Pets into a local brand that people recognize, follow, talk about, and want to visit.
You will:
Own and manage our social media presence. Develop a consistent and recognizable personality for the brand online. Create engaging short-form video, photography, stories, posts, and behind-the-scenes content. Regularly generate new content ideas without waiting to be assigned them. Find ways to showcase our products, pharmacists, services, customers, pets, and personality. Identify trends and determine which ones make sense for our brand. Be comfortable appearing in content when appropriate. Engage with customers and the local community through our social channels. Track what content performs well and continuously improve our approach. Find creative ways to grow our audience without depending on a massive advertising budget. The goal is not simply more posts. The goal is to build an audience. Community & Influencer Relationships People & Pets is a local business, and we want to become much more connected with the communities around us.
You will:
Find and develop relationships with Michigan influencers and content creators. Build relationships with local businesses, organizations, gyms, wellness professionals, veterinarians, community groups, and other potential partners. Develop collaborations, events, promotions, giveaways, and other creative partnerships. Identify opportunities to get People & Pets in front of new audiences. Represent the company at community events. Create genuine relationships rather than simply sending mass outreach messages. Look for unconventional and cost-effective ways to generate attention and word of mouth. This person should naturally enjoy meeting people. You should be someone who can walk into a room knowing nobody and leave knowing several people. Customer Experience Marketing doesn't stop when someone walks through our doors. A major part of our brand is the experience people have once they arrive, and this role will help us continually improve that experience. You will spend time inside the pharmacy, talk with customers, observe how they interact with our team and products, and bring a fresh customer-focused perspective to the business.
You will:
Talk with customers and understand what they are looking for. Help customers discover products and services they may not know we offer. Observe the customer experience and identify opportunities for improvement. Help our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians become even more comfortable engaging with customers. Provide constructive coaching around customer interaction and communication. Notice things that may be obvious to a customer but easy for someone working in the business every day to overlook. Help make the pharmacy feel welcoming, approachable, knowledgeable, and personal. Our pharmacists and technicians bring tremendous clinical and technical knowledge.
This role brings another perspective:
understanding people, communication, presentation, and the overall experience. Brand & Business Improvement We also want this person involved in the broader presentation of the People & Pets brand. You will provide ideas, feedback, and recommendations related to: Branding Graphics Website content and design Signage In-store presentation Product merchandising Promotions Photography and video Customer communication Events Advertising Overall customer experience You do not need to personally be a graphic designer, web developer, photographer, and marketer all at once. What matters is having strong instincts, recognizing when something could be better, communicating that clearly, and helping move improvements forward. Who We're Looking For The right person is: Extremely personable and comfortable talking with almost anyone. Naturally outgoing and energized by meeting new people. High-energy without being forced or overly polished. Creative and constantly generating ideas. Highly observant. Someone with excellent common sense and judgment. Self-motivated and comfortable working without constant direction. Comfortable taking complete ownership of projects. Resourceful and able to accomplish things without needing a huge budget. Comfortable giving respectful and constructive feedback. Someone who sees something that needs to be done and takes initiative. Able to balance creativity with practical business thinking. Comfortable moving between social media, content creation, community outreach, customer interaction, and hands-on problem solving. Most importantly, we want someone who genuinely cares about making the business better. Experience There is no specific professional background required for this position. You may come from social media, hospitality, retail, restaurants, events, sales, customer service, content creation, community outreach, or something completely different. A traditional marketing background is not required. We are more interested in what you are capable of doing than what titles have appeared on your résumé. Personality, judgment, initiative, creativity, communication skills, and your ability to make things happen will matter significantly more to us. Ownership This role will have a significant amount of freedom and responsibility. We want someone who looks at People & Pets and thinks: How do I get more people to know about this place? How do I make the brand more interesting? What could we be doing better? Who should we be talking to? What can I make happen this week? If you see an opportunity, pursue it. If something isn't working, tell us. If you have a great idea, bring it forward and help make it happen. We want this to become your role to own , not simply a list of marketing tasks to complete. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means: People & Pets develops a strong and recognizable social media presence. Our social audience and engagement consistently grow. More customers discover us because of our content. We build meaningful relationships with Michigan influencers and community partners. People in the surrounding area increasingly recognize the People & Pets name. Our brand continues to become more polished and distinctive. Our customer experience continues to improve. Our team becomes even stronger at engaging and communicating with customers. Ideas turn into action quickly. You become someone the company trusts to constantly look for opportunities to move the brand forward. This is a full-time position based in Brighton, Michigan.
