REALTORS
® (GMAR) is seeking a Director of Government and Community Relations to lead and elevate our advocacy efforts across Southeast Michigan. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping policy influence, strengthening relationships with elected officials, and mobilizing
REALTORS
® to be a powerful voice in their communities. What You'll Do As our Director of Government and Community Relations, you will: Lead Advocacy & Policy Initiatives Direct GMAR's government affairs strategy, including legislative advocacy, grassroots engagement, and political involvement at the local, state, and federal levels. Monitor & Influence Public Policy Track emerging legislation and regulatory issues impacting real estate, private property rights, and homeownership—and position GMAR as a trusted voice in the conversation. Build Powerful Relationships Serve as a key liaison between GMAR leadership, and elected officials, cultivating strong, credible relationships that elevate REALTOR® influence across the region. Drive Member Engagement in Advocacy Promote Calls for Action, increase awareness of advocacy wins, and inspire member participation through communications, presentations, and events. Lead Political & Fundraising Efforts Oversee RPAC fundraising initiatives and support candidate endorsement processes at the local level. Represent GMAR in the Community Actively participate in housing coalitions, regional partnerships, and industry groups to advance housing and real estate priorities. Manage & Develop a High-Performing Team Lead the Gov't and Community Relations team, providing direction, training, and support to ensure success across programs and initiatives. What You Bring We're looking for a confident, connected leader who thrives in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment: Strong understanding of the legislative and political process at all levels Proven ability to build relationships with elected officials and stakeholders Experience in government affairs, advocacy, political campaigns, or public policy Exceptional communication and public speaking skills Ability to analyze complex issues and translate them into actionable strategies Demonstrated success in project management and multitasking Experience with political fundraising (RPAC or similar) is highly desirable Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Government, Public Relations, or related field (or equivalent experience) 4+ years of experience in government affairs, political advocacy, or related field Real estate or association experience preferred Nonprofit experience a plus Why GMAR? Pay:
$65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
