Northeast Service Area Director Position Overview The District Executive is an entry‑level to early‑career professional position designed for motivated individuals who want to build a career in youth development, nonprofit leadership, or community engagement .This role is ideal for:
Teachers or educators looking to extend their impact beyond the classroom Youth‑program or after‑school professionals experienced in engaging families and volunteers Nonprofit or school‑based fundraisers skilled at building relationships and mobilizing community support You will receive coaching, training, and support while working with volunteers to grow Scouting programs that positively impact youth and families across East Portland communities. The position supports the Cascade Pacific Council's Field Team Charter and strategic priorities: Safety, Membership Growth, Fiscal Stability, Quality Program, and Brand Revitalization . What You'll Do Youth Recruitment & Community Engagement Partner with schools and community organizations to introduce families to Scouting programs Lead school presentations and community outreach efforts Coordinate and support seasonal youth recruiting campaigns Volunteer Recruitment & Support Identify and recruit adult volunteers (parents and community members) Coach, encourage, and support volunteers in their leadership roles Help build a strong, sustainable district volunteer team over time Unit Support & Program Quality Work alongside experienced volunteer leaders to support local Scouting units Promote participation in council and district programs, including summer camp Assist with planning, organization, and annual recharter processes Fundraising & Resource Development Support district fundraising efforts such as Friends of Scouting and product sales Build relationships with donors, families, and community partners Track participation and assist with campaign administration Professional Leadership Development Collaborate closely with district volunteer leadership (Key 3) Learn nonprofit management, volunteer leadership, and community partnership skills Develop leadership and organizational skills that prepare you for promotion within Scouting America What Success Looks Like (Year One Focus) In the first year, success is measured by: Consistent execution of school and community engagement efforts Growth in youth membership participation Establishment of a reliable volunteer leadership base Positive relationships with schools and community partners Meeting foundational fundraising and program participation goals You will not be expected to "know everything" on day one — training, mentoring, and support are built into the role. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience Background in education, youth programs, nonprofit work, fundraising, or community engagement strongly preferred Strong relationship‑building and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities across a geographically large district Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Willingness to meet professional Scouting commissioning requirements Work Schedule • This role requires a flexible schedule , including some evenings and weekends, to support meetings, programs, and community events. Flexibility during traditional work hours is provided to support sustainable workload balance.Compensation & Benefits Salary:
