Business Development & Community Relations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Assisting Hands Home Care is looking for a people person—not necessarily a salesperson. No previous sales experience is required. The Business Development & Community Relations Manager is responsible for building genuine relationships throughout the community, generating referrals, conducting client intakes, and connecting seniors, veterans, and families with the resources and care they need. We are looking for someone who can walk into a room, start a conversation, build trust, and develop relationships that last. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply , as a significant part of this position may include developing relationships within the veteran community and helping veteran families understand available home care resources.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Build Community Relationships Develop relationships with hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, senior living communities, physician offices, social workers, case managers, veteran organizations, community organizations, and other referral partners. Spend significant time in the community meeting people and developing new relationships. Maintain and grow existing referral relationships through consistent communication and follow-up. Attend networking events, community events, professional meetings, veteran events, health fairs, and other outreach opportunities. Become a trusted local resource for seniors, veterans, families, and healthcare professionals. Represent Assisting Hands professionally and positively throughout the community. Help Families Get Started Respond to new referrals and prospective clients. Conduct client intakes and initial conversations with families. Listen to families, understand their needs, and explain how Assisting Hands may be able to help. Educate families about home care services and available resources. Coordinate with our internal team to move qualified clients from referral to assessment and start of care. Follow up with families throughout the decision-making process. Provide a smooth handoff to the care and operations teams once services begin. Develop New Business Identify organizations and individuals who regularly work with seniors and families needing additional support. Turn community relationships into consistent referral partnerships. Follow up with referral sources after they send a client. Maintain an active pipeline of relationships, referrals, and prospective clients. Track activity and results so we understand which relationships are producing referrals, clients, care hours, and revenue.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
No sales experience required. We can teach our services, systems, and business development process. We are looking for the right personality and work ethic.
The right person should have:
Exceptional people skills and genuinely enjoy meeting and talking with people. The confidence to introduce themselves and start conversations with people they do not know. A warm, approachable, and professional personality. Strong communication and listening skills. The ability to build trust and maintain relationships. Confidence speaking with healthcare professionals, veterans, seniors, and families. Strong follow-up skills—you do what you say you are going to do. Self-motivation and the ability to manage your day while working in the community. Comfort asking for referrals and opportunities once relationships have been established. A desire to help people while also being accountable for business growth. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory. Veteran status or experience working closely with the veteran community is preferred. Experience in healthcare, senior services, home care, community outreach, hospitality, customer service, networking, or relationship-based positions is helpful but not required .
HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED
This is a relationship-based position, but relationships must ultimately produce results.
Performance will be measured through:
New community relationships developed Qualified referrals generated Client intakes completed Referral-to-client conversion New clients started New weekly care hours generated Revenue generated from new business Repeat referrals from established partners Consistent follow-up and accurate pipeline management
