Part-Time Public Safety Communications Officer Mecklenburg County Emergency Communications Starting Pay:

$26.17/hour Additional compensation may be considered based on experience, certifications, and training. Mecklenburg County Emergency Communications is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Emergency Communications Officer . This position plays a critical role in supporting public safety operations by assisting with emergency and non-emergency communications, administrative support, and other operational duties as assigned. This position averages 29 hours per week and requires flexibility to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs. Position Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Answering and processing emergency and non-emergency calls for service Dispatching law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel Operating communications equipment and computer-aided dispatch systems Assist with paperwork, recordings, and other VCIN-related duties and paperwork Maintaining accurate records and documentation Providing support within the Emergency Communication Center Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director Minimum Qualifications Preferred applicants should possess: A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Communications Officer or in a related emergency communications role Current certifications in one or more of the following: DCJS Communications Officer Certification Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD)

VCIN/NCIC

Bilingual candidates preferred, but not required Equivalent related training and certifications will also be considered Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Successful candidates should demonstrate: Strong communication and multitasking skills Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure Working knowledge of emergency communications procedures and protocols Excellent organizational and documentation skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced public safety environment

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants selected for consideration must successfully complete a drug screening, background check, fingerprinting, typing test, eye and hearing exams, and a written examination. Applicants must have no felony convictions and no Class I or II misdemeanors involving moral turpitude (lying, cheating, stealing) or gross misconduct (crimes against persons or involving controlled substances).
