VISTA Service Opportunity:
Community Land Trust Activate your passion for housing, and help NeighborWorks Green Bay develop a new local model for affordable home ownership. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program established in 1965 to strengthen and supplement efforts to eliminate and alleviate poverty. . . in the United States by encouraging and enabling persons from all walks of life, all geographic areas, and all age groups, including low-income individuals. . . to perform meaningful and constructive volunteer service. . . NeighborWorks Green Bay has been a leader in solving housing challenges and building stronger communities across northeastern Wisconsin since 1982. The
NWGB VISTA
will help our organization further its commitment to strengthening resident engagement in organizational planning and governance processes through the development of a community land trust and cooperatively-governed homeowner groups. The VISTA will develop policies and practices; create materials; train residents and institutional stakeholders; and develop communication channels that all support resident participation in governance structures. The VISTA will foster effective communication and clear, shared leadership across multiple governing bodies - NWGB, land trust, and homeowner associations/cooperatives, and develop community building strategies to promote trusting, productive relationships among all involved. NWGB seeks candidates that bring passion for supporting human development and collaborative community engagement, demonstrated experience in fostering relationship- and team-building, interest in governance structures, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, resourcefulness and initiative. Access to a personal vehicle recommended. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support a major community development initiative within a highly-regarded nonprofit. In addition to the standard AmeriCorps living allowance and education stipend, the
NWGB VISTA
will benefit from free-rent apartment within short walking distance of the NeighborWorks Green Bay offices. This two-bedroom apartment may be shared with a second VISTA member serving with our organization 2026-2027. VISTA position begins August 10, 2026 for a one-year period. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve through AmeriCorps. Requirements:
Strong commitment to community service and social change. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Organizational skills with attention to detail. Experience in project management or volunteer coordination is a plus. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs within the community or organization. A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experiences.
