Job Description

The Program & Community Engagement Assistant supports the mission of Steppingstones by assisting with the planning and delivery of inclusive recreation programs, strengthening family and community engagement, and supporting fundraising and development initiatives. This role combines direct program involvement with administrative responsibilities and donor/community relations. The position requires flexibility, including evenings and weekends, and a commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and the highest standards of safety and care for all program participants. Essential Functions Program Development & Direct Support Assist with the planning, organization, and delivery of recreation programs for individuals of all abilities. Work directly with participants, ensuring activities are inclusive and adapted to meet a variety of needs. Provide on-site support during programs, including setup, supervision, safety monitoring, and volunteer coordination. Assist with program logistics such as registration, communications with families, and collection of required paperwork and fees. Support the development of program schedules, lesson plans, and calendars/ newsletters. Maintain accurate, current files on programs, participants, and volunteers. Community & Family Engagement Serve as a welcoming point of contact for families, responding to questions, providing resources, and ensuring open communication. Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, caregivers, participants, and community partners. Represent Steppingstones at community events, outreach initiatives, and partner meetings. Fundraising & Development Assist with planning and executing fundraising events (e.g., Miracle Ball, Car Raffle, Golf Tournament). Support donor communications, including letters, acknowledgments, sponsorship requests, and reporting. Maintain accurate donor and fundraising records in the database. Help develop and implement outreach materials to promote sponsorship opportunities and highlight program impact. Work with the Executive Director to identify and cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities. Administrative Duties Answer telephones, greet visitors, and provide professional and timely responses to inquiries. Maintain accurate filing systems, program and donor databases, and contact records. Draft and distribute letters, reports, and newsletters as needed. Assist with preparing board and committee reports, correspondence, and program updates as needed. Provide clerical and organizational support for staff, volunteers, and community partners. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human services, Recreation, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered). Experience working with individuals with disabilities is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to balance administrative tasks with hands-on program support. Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites; experience with databases a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, parents, and community agencies. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by program and event schedules. CPR/First Aid certification recommended. Valid driver's license required.

Full-Time, Salaried (Administrative Professional; overtime compensation not available). Vacation and Sick time are accrued monthly. No health insurance is available, but employees receive a monthly health insurance stipend after the first 90 days of employment.
Pay:
$31,200.00 - $33,000.00 per year
