Job Description

Communications & Outreach Coordinator Fairbanks Arts Association has served Interior Alaska through the arts since 1966, offering visual, literary, performing, and arts education programs. Based in the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts in Alaskaland, we play a central leadership role in the arts community. Grounded in values of respect and belonging, we work to build a vibrant, healthy community through the arts. Fairbanks Arts Association is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate all applicants on individual merit and qualifications, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other status protected by law. Description The Communications & Outreach Coordinator (C.O.C.) is a full-time position (30-40 hours per week), starting at $23-$25 per hour depending on experience, reporting to the Executive Director. The C.O.C. creates and circulates engaging written and visual content that deepens program participation and raises public awareness of Fairbanks Arts' mission and activities — planning promotional strategies, developing content for media and targeted audiences, and serving as a liaison between Fairbanks Arts, the public, and the media. The role also leads community outreach: building relationships with artists, members, and community partners, and representing Fairbanks Arts at events, job fairs, and other outreach opportunities to grow participation and support. This work overlaps with other staff roles, so success requires proactive communication and strong collaboration. The role suits someone who enjoys public engagement, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes initiative — regularly engaging with artists, staff, volunteers, and Fairbanks Arts' membership and supporters by phone, email, and in person. Position will remain open until filled. Work Environment & Schedule This role is based primarily at the Fairbanks Arts office (on-site no less than 3 days per week). The role routinely requires visiting our third-floor gallery space (accessible by stairs or elevator), and occasionally requires local travel to off-site events using the employee's own vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
