POSITION SUMMARY
As an integral member of our communications team, the Digital Communications Specialist plays a key role in shaping our narrative. This position encompasses a wide array of responsibilities, from crafting compelling digital stories and managing our social media presence to overseeing our website content. You will engage in both internal and external communications, enhancing our brand through innovative marketing and promotional strategies. Your skills in photography and videography will bring our stories to life, while your expertise in managing print collateral and planning events will ensure our message resonates across all platforms. This role is perfect for a creative and proactive communicator eager to make a significant impact.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in graphic design, communications, and website design
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Background Clearance Valid Driver's License
WORK EXPERIENCE
Print and graphic design experienced preferred Photography and/or videography experience Minimum two (2) years' experience in digital marketing, journalism, or communications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Skills-based Competencies Required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including design software applications; video editing; working with a cloud storage system; preparing and maintaining accurate records; applying job-related codes, regulations, and laws; performing standard bookkeeping; planning and managing projects; screening telephone calls; and proofreading. Knowledge-based Competencies Required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: business telephone etiquette; concepts of grammar and punctuation; concepts of design, layout, and typography; event planning; and social media. Ability-based Competencies Required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; displaying tact and courtesy; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; being attentive to detail; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Writes compelling articles for use online and in print Shoots and edits photos/videos of various school-related events Collaborates with Communications personnel in the planning and execution of media events, employee recognition events, marketing, and brand awareness activities Serves as backup to Communications Specialist in maintaining district's website with up-to-date, timely, and relevant information Serves as support for school-level digital communication needs Conducts regular trainings on digital communications and social media best practices Collaborates to create and distribute a variety of engaging and creative web and social media content Assists with monitoring metrics of district's social media pages Manages production studio to produce podcasts, radio spots, video broadcasts. Provides guidance and oversight for student interns. Provides layout and design for promotional materials, event invitations, annual reports, and other official district documents. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
