Communications Specialist

Overview MITS is placing a Communications Specialist with a Hawaii state agency to manage public health communications activities including a statewide social media campaign, graphic design and video production oversight, and webpage content management. Responsibilities Serve as primary point of contact between agency staff and communications contractors Coordinate project timelines, approvals, and deliverable schedules across social media, video, graphic design, and web content Review contractor-submitted materials for accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and alignment with agency messaging Develop press releases, internal updates, and public-facing announcements Oversee social media campaign performance and content approval workflows Monitor graphic design and video production deliverables Coordinate webpage content updates and maintenance Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience in public information, health communications, or strategic communications Strong project management and organizational skills Experience with digital media and multi-component communications projects Ability to review and provide feedback on scripts, graphics, video, and multimedia content Excellent written communication skills Cultural competency for Hawaii communities Preferred Public health communications background Familiarity with cannabis, behavioral health, or other sensitive public health topics Experience with Hawaii state government communications processes

Pay:

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
