The successful candidate will be self-motivated with professional demeanor and presence, positive attitude, and excellent verbal communication and inter-personal skills. This is a part-time hourly position for 25 hours per week (e.g. Mon.—Thurs. 9am to 2pm and 5 flex hours). The Church Secretary must be flexible in their job routine and work as team member in a collaborative environment. The Church Secretary carries out these functions while providing a cheerful and organized atmosphere for all who enter or contact the Church.
Responsibilities:
Ministerial Staff Support 1. Preparing and mailing correspondence and emails as directed 2. Distributing messages and in-coming mail appropriately 3. Preparing reports, presentations, etc. as directed 4. Maintain church records in Shepherd's Staff and hardcopy as required Office Support 1. Serve as receptionist screening and routing of incoming calls and visitors to the Church; warmly greeting persons with a friendly, courteous and helpful attitude; providing pertinent and appropriate information to callers and/or visitors 2. Prepare and produce weekly church bulletins and other special service bulletins or programs. 3. Prepare and produce weekly newsletter to be distributed via email and in print 4. Maintain Church Calendar; including scheduling of ministry meetings/events and posting events on church website calendar; 5. Ensure the church website is current and a helpful, user-friendly platform for communication 6. Manage Social media accounts, creating regular posts to promote the church and her programs and events 7. Monitor and maintain office supplies 8. Assist ministry leaders as necessary with clerical, administrative, and communication support 9. Attend Staff meetings and church leadership retreats as required 10. See that the words and deeds of this household of faith bear witness to God 11. Encourage everyone you work with to worship, learn, witness, serve, and support the ministries of FELC, so that the mission of Christ is carried out 12. Serve as an example of faith active in love, fostering peace, harmony, and mutual understanding 13. Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
This position requires previous experience in a church or business environment. The successful individual will also possess proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Canva Pro, web page maintenance (e.g. GoDaddy), and use of technology in a church setting. Proficiency with desktop publishing, cloud storage and synchronization (Google Drive) a plus. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to handle requests from multiple sources, and effective verbal, writing and editorial skills.
