Global R&D / Global Engineering (Embedded in the Office of the Chief of Staff)
Compensation Range:
$38 - 42 per hour We are seeking a hands-on, high-judgment Engineering Communications Specialist to embed directly within our Office of the Chief of Staff (OCOS). In this individual contributor role, you will act as a force multiplier for Engineering leadership-sitting at the intersection of strategy, execution, and storytelling. You will partner directly with the Chief of Staff and senior executives to translate complex R&D initiatives, operating priorities, and organizational transformations into compelling, actionable messaging across the enterprise. If you thrive in high-autonomy environments, possess strong technical acumen, and are comfortable sitting in executive-level meetings extracting key takeaways without needing hand-holding, this role is for you.
Responsibilities:
Executive Content & Presentation Development:
Independently design and craft high-level executive presentations, leadership slide decks, organization-wide updates, talking points, and FAQs utilizing Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Word).
Engineering Strategy & Narrative:
Translate complex R&D and software engineering transformation efforts into clear, repeatable messaging and core narrative frameworks.
Executive Advisory:
Partner directly with the Chief of Staff and Engineering leaders to shape messaging for All-Hands meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and key product milestones.
Change & Transformation Communications:
Develop structured communication plans for organizational, process, and tooling changes-ensuring messages are understood, retained, and adopted over time.
Enterprise Alignment:
Serve as the bridge between Global Engineering and Enterprise Communications, maintaining alignment with corporate voice while ensuring R&D's story is accurately represented at the enterprise level.
Qualifications:
Experience:
5+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or executive messaging within a complex organization.
Technical Acumen:
Prior background or strong familiarity operating within R&D, Software Development, or Engineering environments. You must be comfortable engaging with technical leaders and translating technical topics into plain language.
Executive Presence & Autonomy:
High level of maturity, judgment, and discretion. Proven ability to sit in leadership forums, extract core priorities, and drive output independently with minimal direction.
Technical Mastery:
Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word for executive slide deck building, data visualization, and message structure. (Familiarity with Atlassian environments like Jira/Jama is a plus, though standard M365 tools are primary).
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
