SUMMARY:

Provides support instruction to high school students under the direction of an instructor. Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a positive team member to assist with problem-solving situations as they relate to student and program needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

• Ability to assist instructor with implementation of student lessons and projects. This includes assisting students with operating various printing equipment such as digital printing, bindery, finishing, large-format printing, screen printing, vinyl cutting, dye sublimation, and laser engraving.
• Ability to assist students with completing lessons and projects using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign software.
• Ability to assist students in preparing for various Adobe certifications.
• Assist instructor with maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, printing, binding, vinyl graphics, photography, and screen printing equipment.
• Ability to adapt and learn new technologies including computer equipment, software, printing methods and techniques.
• Reinforce equipment and lab safety procedures.
• Provide accommodations for students in the program based on their IEPs and 504s under the direction of the instructor.
• Participate in professional development activities and state and national certifications where applicable.
• Assist with student mentorship assignments.
• Assist in placement of students by sharing recommendations based on a working knowledge of the students.
• Discuss student progress and needs with instructor on a regular basis.
• Assist in monitoring of student academic progress.
• Participate as a member of a team to assist with problem solving situations as they relate to student and program needs.
• Active involvement in the coordination of student clubs.
• Participate in advisory board meetings.
• Active involvement in Bay-Arenac ISD Career Center school committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned by instructor or administration.
• Be present in buildings with regular and continued attendance and punctuality.
• Follow all Board Policies, Staff Handbook and Administrative Guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum two (2) years' experience in graphic design or related field or Associate's degree in graphic design or related field
• Computer experience with specific knowledge of the MacOS computer platform and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
• Knowledge of graphic design principles, typography, color, layout, and file preparation.
• Basic knowledge of digital photography, DSLR and Mirrorless cameras, lighting, and photo editing.
• Ability to work with high school students possessing a full range of abilities.
• Preferred knowledge of Google Classroom.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Driver's License required. Licenses or certifications related to the industry desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS and

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical equipment. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
