OBJECTIVE
The Communications Specialist advances the mission of ICCF Community Homes by protecting and promoting the ICCF brand through clear, consistent and timely communications. The position coordinates organizational messaging, marketing campaigns, printed and digital materials, social media, website updates, video projects and communications support for events. Working under the Senior Manager of Advancement, the Communications Specialist collaborates with Advancement staff, other departments and outside vendors to ensure ICCF's communications reflect organizational priorities and brand standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Draft and edit key written and electronic communications for the organization, including press releases, major donor letters, targeted mailings and other communications as assigned. Manage the annual calendar of Advancement communications, projects and campaigns. Establish and monitor deadlines and work with the Annual Giving and Volunteer Engagement Manager, other Advancement staff, outside agencies and organizational partners to support timely implementation. Serve as the print project coordinator with marketing agencies and printers. Review communication materials, coordinate revisions and approvals, and help ensure printed pieces are produced, delivered and mailed on schedule. Coordinate social media messaging and media monitoring with outside agencies or vendors, helping maintain consistent messaging and an active organizational presence. Manage website updates and coordinate with departments to keep organizational content current and consistent with ICCF messaging and brand standards. Assist the Senior Manager of Advancement, Vice President of Advancement and external vendors in developing meaningful video and storytelling content for the organization. Maintain ICCF's internal messaging resources and branding guide. Provide brand and messaging guidance to staff and Board members and serve as a communications resource for departments across the organization. Track ICCF's published brochures, marketing materials and organizational resources. Coordinate updates, redesigns and inventory needs with appropriate staff and vendors. Lead or coordinate marketing and communications meetings, maintain follow-up items and help keep communication projects moving across the organization. Assist the Advancement team and event planner with communication, scheduling and planning for fundraising, donor and volunteer events, including support for large-scale organization-wide events as assigned. Coordinate with Advancement staff responsible for annual giving, planned giving, donor engagement and volunteer engagement so fundraising and stewardship communications are consistent with ICCF's overall messaging and communication calendar. Support the Senior Manager of Advancement with communications-related special projects and other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 to 5 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit development or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience coordinating multiple projects and deadlines, and working knowledge of websites, social media, branding and external vendors are preferred. Event planning a plus. Other combinations of education and experience may be acceptable. Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Maintain complete confidentiality regarding all department and donor information. Possess a valid Michigan driver's license. Strong focus on written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of maintaining websites and other social media. Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, deadlines, approvals, and communication projects. Ability to work effectively with outside agencies and vendors and to review communications for accuracy, consistency, brand alignment, and quality. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
