Job Description

Help shape how our team members experience HR. Great internal communication does more than share information. It helps people understand what matters, know where to go, feel connected to their organization, and take advantage of the programs and resources available to them. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is looking for an HR Communications Specialist to help bring that experience to life across Tribal Operations. In this role, you'll serve as the communications and content lead for HR, partnering closely with HR, Marketing and Communications, and Tribal Operations leaders to turn important information into clear, engaging and meaningful communication for our team members. This is an opportunity for someone who loves to write, create, organize and bring ideas to life — while having a direct impact on the employee experience. What you'll get to do: You'll help shape how HR communicates across Tribal Operations by: Developing internal communication strategies for HR programs, benefits, policies, initiatives, engagement and recognition. Writing and designing content ranging from emails, newsletters and FAQs to presentations, toolkits, talking points and digital posts. Managing content across multiple internal channels, including the team member app, HR Hub, digital signage, weekly communications and team member news. Building and maintaining communication and editorial calendars so messaging is timely, coordinated and effective. Partnering with leaders and key stakeholders on organizational announcements, internal news and executive communications. Helping create new-hire orientation materials alongside Talent Management and HR Business Partners. Using engagement metrics such as open rates, click-through rates and team member feedback to continually improve how we communicate. You might be a great fit if you… Are a strong writer who can take complicated information and make it clear, approachable and useful. You enjoy both the strategy and the execution — thinking through how a message should be communicated and then writing, designing and delivering it. You're comfortable working with different audiences and stakeholders, from HR partners and team members to senior leaders, and you know how to adjust your voice and communication style accordingly. And because no two weeks in HR communications look exactly alike, you're organized, adaptable and comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deadlines. What we're looking for We're seeking someone with: A bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field. 4-6 years of experience in HR communications, internal communications or corporate communications. Exceptional writing and editing skills. Experience with digital communications, social platforms or communications technology. Strong project management and organizational skills. The ability to collaborate effectively with leaders, HR partners and team members at all levels. Confidence learning new technologies and communication channels. Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Why this role stands out You won't simply be writing communications after decisions have already been made. You'll have the opportunity to partner with HR, Marketing and Communications, and Tribal Operations leadership to determine how important information reaches team members, how stories are told and how employees experience HR across the organization. If you're a communications professional who wants to combine creativity, strategy and employee experience in a role where your work will be seen across the organization, we'd love to hear from you. Join the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and help us build communication that keeps our team members informed, connected and engaged.
