About This Opportunity Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for a Multimedia Specialist to join our Communications team. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Multimedia Specialist assists with the creation of compelling written, graphic, photo, and short- and long-form video and audio content that tells the County's story and promotes County programs, services, and events. The Multimedia Specialist provides support and assistance with planning, developing, producing, and delivering high-quality communications materials through collaboration with the Communications team members along with other county departments, leadership, and partners to support communication goals. This position coordinates communications with focus on the County's identified focus areas of economic development, education, excellent government, growth and sustainability, healthy and safe community, and engagement and connection. Oversee and implement a variety of multimedia projects from initial concept to final post-production, ensuring timelines and branding guidelines are met. Research, write scripts, and produce audio and video projects about County services, events, projects, and topics of interest. Take and edit photos and b-roll of County activities and events for promotional and educational materials. Create and edit horizontal and vertical, long and short-form videos, or other requested content. Operate and understand a variety of modern digital camera equipment (video and photo) and editing software (primarily Adobe Creative Suite). Help produce or update content on County websites and social media channels and respond to user communications received via those sites as appropriate. Develop, write, and/or design educational or promotional materials, including media releases, public notices, brochures, reports, newsletters, fliers, advertisements, and other items as assigned. Attend and assist with County events and media coverage as needed. This may require work outside traditional office hours or weekends. Perform work during emergency situations to help communicate public information related to weather events (includes tropical events/hurricanes), emergencies, service interruptions, and other urgent or time-sensitive situations. This may require work outside traditional office hours or weekends. Foster a collaborative working environment, take personal ownership of projects and actively build upon team ideas. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Video or Multimedia Production, Journalism, Public Relations, or another communications-related field and 1-2 years of applicable experience, OR an Associate's Degree in Communications, Video or Multimedia Production, Journalism, Public Relations, or another communications-related field and 2-3 years of applicable experience.

The ideal candidate will:
have strong writing and copywriting/editing skills; have willingness to learn and participate in new projects; strong interpersonal communication skills; have familiarity with AP Style rules and guidelines; have familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (particularly Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, InDesign, Photoshop, and Lightroom); have basic (or better) understanding of website and graphic design; be able to distill complex topics into simple talking points and messages; be comfortable using cameras and have relevant experience with photography and videography; have a strong understanding of elements of storytelling and composition.
