A Communications or Public Relations Specialist coordinates internal and external communications for a company or organization. Provides information to employees on company activities, such as the launch of a new product or a community service initiative. Writes and edits public communications; develops media contacts and prepares material for press and media distribution; monitors media coverage. May assist with events planning.
The Development & Communications Associate facilitates donor acknowledgement, direct mail, coordinates special events, assists in the creation and maintenance of communications materials and platforms, and supports the LRMHC mission and functions of the Development & Public Relations office by providing administrative support. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Campaigns and Events (50%) Support fundraising efforts, agency, and donor cultivation events, including marketing campaigns, direct mailings, mailing lists, registrations, materials, and events. Lead events coordination and primary contact for community events, annual events, donor events, and other fundraising initiatives as needed. Coordinate staffing and prepare materials for outreach events, which may include evenings or weekends. Attend events as needed. Works closely with CDPRO and other staff as required to inform events and campaign marketing efforts. Supporting and improving overall development initiatives. Donor Relations (25%) Serve as agency lead for Little Green Light (LGL) donor database, including list generation, analysis and reporting, queries and tracking revenue and goals, and regular clean-up of the database of duplicate records. (20%) Maintain integrity of information in the donor database through cross-referencing, data checking, and research. Update constituent records including coordinating change of address and contact information updates. Generate and update thank-you letters quickly as established by the organization's standards. Enter constituents and generate acknowledgment letters. Conduct ongoing research on prospects, including individuals, businesses, and corporations, as potential sources for support. Marketing/Communications & Other (25%) Assist in creation and maintenance of marketing materials, social media outlets, newsletters, and website. Participation and support in agency program meetings and on agency committees. Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as deemed necessary to enhance the functioning of LRMHC and CDPRO. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Education and Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in English, Communications, Social Work, or related field preferred. One to three years of nonprofit development experience and donor management software (Little Greenlight) preferred. Working knowledge of social media platforms, WordPress, Constant Contact preferred. Willing to train the right candidate
Physical Requirements:
Able to sustain light physical effort such as frequent staging, walking, bending, stopping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of items 20 lbs. or more. Can tolerate periods of heavy workload or stress. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is unpredictable at times. Ability to walk long distances in the community, including using stairs, ramps, elevators and escalators as needed with clients.
