Job Description

Job Summary The New London Police Department has an immediate opening for a full-time Communications Specialist. Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess excellent typing skills, oral and written communication skills, understanding of various computer applications, be able to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment, remain calm during emergency situations, and be able to multitask. Communications Specialists work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, dispatching and relaying information to Police, Fire & Medical personnel for emergency & non-emergency situations. An extensive background check will be required prior to hiring. There are two grades of
Communications Specialist:
I and II. Depending on your level of prior experience and training, you may qualify for Communications Specialist II. The pay range for Communications Specialist I is $23.66 - $33.45. The pay range for Communications Specialist II is $25.21 - $35.64. The Town of New London offers an excellent benefits package. This position requires shift work, rotating shift work, day shifts, evening shifts, midnight shifts, and/or weekday/weekend/holiday work. This position will require working overtime as needed.
