Patient Communications Specialist - South Zanesville - Full Time
Job Description
General Summary:
Functions as a MVHC team member by effectively operating a multi-line telephone unit, receives and routes telephone calls and faxes and performs specified clerical duties to support the daily business activity of MVHC by performing the following duties according to regulatory and organizational requirements. Schedule appointments for new and existing patients for preventive or annual well check visits with physiciansMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma Good written and verbal communication skills Good computer skills; proficiency with office equipment, personal computers, and word processing Ability to multi-task Electronic Health Record knowledge Strong Critical Thinking skills Knowledge of general office procedures and practicesWorking Conditions:
Lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally Carry up to 20 lbs occasionally Sitting 1-2 hours at a time (8-10 hours a day) Standing 1-2 hours at a time (8-10 hours a day) Walking approx. 30 minutes per hour throughout the day Withstands pressure and deals with emergency situations as needed Must be able to operate a multi-line telephone Must be able to read, write and understand English well Must have skills and knowledge of software as designated by practice Withstanding pressure and deal with emergency situations as needed Average working hours with possible non-traditional hours Ability to deal with upset or disgruntle patients in order to deescalate the situation Normal coordination and/or visual and aural attention in connection with the standard flow of work Repetitive movements of the hands, wrists and fingers; good visual acuity (with or without correction) Good working conditions in an office environment Manual dexterity and ability to sit for long periods are required Listening skills, sustained concentration, and efficiency under difficult situations are at times required to maintain patient flow Average working hours with possible non-traditional hours .Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains patient relationship by making patient feel at ease Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times Schedule patients for appointments Transfer patient calls to the Customer Service Call Survey Answer routine questions or forward to appropriate service line Promptly answers telephone calls in a professional, pleasant manner, connecting caller to appropriate staff members Provides assistance to patients as needed Communicates effectively with patient in an effort to gather necessary information Maintains professional and relationship building etiquette when handling customers, third party payers, hospitals and other outside contracts Follows rules and procedures for routine tasks Handle difficult situations appropriately Verify insurance information Performs data entry Remains pleasant, polite, and efficient while handling difficult situations Accepts constructive feedback from supervisors and works to improve performance Exhibits pride in the job and with Muskingum Valley Health Centers' mission and values Maintains the privacy of patient information and the security of all records Determines needs of caller and responds accordingly and in an appropriate manner Concentrates and works effectively despite distractions Adheres to all MVHC's policies and procedures fully cooperating with the MVHC Compliance Program Performs other duties as assigned Position details: Full time with benefitsAbout MVHC:
